Start by going to the San Francisco Bay Area Council website
My Scouting Website
The “My Scouting” website can be accessed from either the Horizonal Menu: Resources / My Scouting or from its own graphic link.
You can also go directly to http://www.myscouting.org/
Warning, this site is not friendly unless you use the latest Internet Explorer or Firefox browsers.
My Scouting Sign In
If you have been to this site before, or its predecessor, simply provide your username and password.
Otherwise follow the registration steps below after clicking the link in the “New to MyScouting” section.
Choose a UserName
Choose a username which can include alpha-numeric characters as well as the period “.” and underscore “_” characters. It must be 6-25 characters long. Click the “Check Username Availablity” button, and then when the screen refreshes, the “Next” button
Membership ID
If you are a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America, your Membership ID is located on your membership card. If you do not have this card, you can contact your Unit Committee Chairman to get your card, or Membership ID. (It is provided on the yearly recharter document.)
While providing the Membership ID is not required to sign up with this site, BSA tracks all training by Membership ID, so providing it helps ensure the Unit activities meet the trained leadership requirements.
Select “San Francisco Bay Area Council – San Leadro, CA - #028” for Council Name, and enter the Member Number as indicated.
Profile Information
This long page, requires your Username, First Name (Personal Name), Last Name (Family Name), Email Address, Address (Mailing Address), City, State, Country, and Postal Code (Zip Code).
The bottom of the page asks if you are an Alumni of the BSA program if you did not provide a member ID. Check this if you were previously a registered member as a youth or adult.
You will also need to check the box indicating you agree to the Terms and Conditions of the use of the site. You need to enter the text in the Verification Image picture to prove you are a human and not a computer robot.
Finally click the “Create User” button. This will create your profile for the site, and you will receive an email which will contain a link to a special login URL which will assist you in creating a password and complete the registration process.
Training Courses
From the My Scouting home page click the big blue “Training” button. This will take you to the training home page.
This page has a lot of training courses. For Troop Parents & Leaders, the courses listed below in red are most essential. I would like everyone to take these so we can go on campouts and other outings. The other courses listed below are usefull and needed for specialized activities.

Certificates
Each training, when completed, will present you with an opportunity to print a certificate. This can also be obtained from the main training page after you have completed the course.
Please print out a copy of your certificate, and bring it to the Committee Chairman so the troop has a record as well. Depending on your browser, the apperance of the certificate may differ from the following, but should have the same information.
Also, some of the courses have problems when you request the certificate from within the course. If the course hangs, you may be able to simple close the window, and then from the MyScouting Training page, view the approprate certificate directly.
