The troop is run by the Scouts, not by the adults.
The Scouts decide what activities they wish to participate in and plan each activity. The Scouts elect leaders who make decisions for the troop as a whole. These leaders are answerable to their patrol member for their decisions.
The adults guide the youth leadership, provide logistics, instruction, and counseling. The adults are responsible for seeing that safety measures are always observed, and that all youth protection regulations are followed.
In addition the adult leadership has the responsibility to see that Troop 612 activities follow the guidelines and spirit of the Scout program as defined by the Boy Scouts of America and the World Organization of Scouting Movements.
